The Boat

Venturer in Corryvreckan

The boat we use is Venturer, an Interceptor 42.

Venturer was built in 2007 by Safehaven Marine in Co. Cork in Southern Ireland. The interceptor is well respected for her sea keeping qualities and is used in some of the most extreme places around the world.

She is the largest vessel running daily trips in our area at 13.10 metres long and is powered by a Volvo D12 650hp engine giving a comfortable cruising speed around 14/15kts, with a sprint speed of 22kts.

Venturer is licenced category 2, to carry 12 passengers plus two crew up to 20 miles from a safe haven.

 On board facilities

In the heated wheelhouse there is plenty of room for passengers to keep warm and dry on the not so nice days and more than ample deck space for everyone outside.

Facilities include a marine toilet accessed from the deck, a small galley providing hot water for courtesy tea, coffee, hot chocolate with shortbread and a fridge with bottled water.
