Sea Leopard II

30 years experienced skipper Lindsay Johnston invites you aboard his purpose built catamaran "Sea Leopard II " for a memorable cruise through the spectacular scenery and abundant wildlife of the Firth of Lorn Special conservation area, a wildlife feeding hot spot.

We operate 7 days; 1st April to 31st October weather permitting with occasional days out for maintenance. November to March by prior arrangement only.

Our Cruises

2 hour trip depart 11am Monday to Friday

The 2 hour trip will normally take you out through the Dorus Mor and on to the North end of Jura where there is a good chance of seeing the resident sea eagles and other raptors while looking out for porpoises, seals and an abundance of sea birds.

3 hour trip depart 2pm most afternoons

Corryvreckan Whirlpool
Corryvreckan Whirlpool

For the more adventurous take a trip out to the infamous Gulf of Corryvreckan, the site of the world's 3rd largest whirlpool, then in to Pig Bay to put the kettle on returning by Kinuachdrachd to look for the sea eagles. Or, if conditions permit, continue round Scarba and through the Grey Dogs. Regularly seen species include sea eagle, golden eagle, peregrine, buzzard, an infinite variety of sea birds, porpoises, seals, deer, and if lucky basking shark, dolphin and minke whale. For information on Corryvreckan and dates to have the best chance of seeing the maelstrom in action visit www.whirlpool-scotland.co.uk and click on "when to see the whirlpool". Also visit www.hebridean-wild.co.uk for a superb photo gallery and more information on the Gulf.

4 hour trip depart 2pm Thursdays depending on weather and demand

A 4 hour trip may take you out through Corryvreckan or the Grey Dogs to the spectacular Garvellach Islands, the site of a monastery founded by St Brendan in the 6th century. Cruise the island chain looking for the resident golden eagles soaring above the sheer cliffs while scanning the sea for cetaceans and a multitude of birds then past Dun Chonnuill returning by Belnahua and the Sound of Luing. Or, if condtions are suitable, go ashore to see the ruins. Landing is by dinghy and by prior arrangement only and requires good agility and walking boots. If we go ashore, the trip may take up to 5 hours to allow for time on the island.

4 hour whale watching trip departure times will vary

Although it is always possible to see whales and dolphins at any time in season, we only run specific whale watching trips when there are known to be whales in our area and even then sightings cannot be guaranteed.

Due to the time at sea and the fact that we are often in exposed water, 4 hour trips are not suitable for young children.

Private Charter

Sea Leopard II is available for private charter by the hour, half day or day. Please telephone to discuss requirements.

Water Taxi

Sea Leopard II will take walkers and cyclists to the islands and can arrange a morning drop off and evening pick up.
